Donate blood
First United Lutheran Church would personally like to thank you for your continued support and life saving donations at previous blood drives. We look forward to continuing to see you this year and next year! Every time you donate you help save up to 3 peoples lives - newborn babies, children with Leukemia, new mom's that just gave birth and are hemorrhaging, a neighbor who had surgery and just hasn't been able to get better, the person whose body just stopped producing platelets and needs a transfusion every week and cancer patients of all ages to name a few! Just imagine every time you donate you touch so many patients lives, family, friends and neighbors! Thanks for making such a difference. You can donate whole blood every 56 days. Minimum age - 17 years old. 110 pounds and in generally good health. (See Blood Donor Eligibility Guide below). Please call Ron Emberg at 770-272-5021 to set up your appointment or e-mail Ron Emberg. We do prefer appointments to walk ins (of course would love you either way). Appointments help us to plan how many staff, donating chairs and history stations we need!
We have our blood drives on Thursday's from 10:30am - 6:30pm
Please see our church calendar- Find the tab that says "Welcome" then click on "The Uniter monthly church newsletter" for FULC blood drive dates. Normally they run in January, March, May, July, September and November.

"GALLONS 4 GOD" This is a special mission statement that many are joining here at church! At every blood drive all the donors combined donate about 8 - 10 gallons of usable blood every blood drive. God gave us this wonderful life and body of ours. Donating is a great way to tithe to your neighbor. Jesus always said "Love thy neighbor" and what a great way to start accomplishing that goal!
BEFORE YOU DONATE PREPARE YOUR BODY TO MAKE IT MUCH EASIER:
The day before you donate and the day that you donate drink lots of water or juice (approx 10-12 large cups/ 80-96 oz.). Eat really well. DO NOT skip a meal the day that you are donating, your body needs the fuel to make more platelets and plasma right away while you are donating! Stay away from caffeine especially the day you are donating this includes coffee (regular and decaffeinated), teas (herbal without caffeine ok), sodas and chocolate. Caffeine constricts your veins and causes more needle pain, bruising and takes forever to fill the 1 pint bag! It will amaze you when you take care of your body well for just the 2 days how wonderful your donation process will be without much recuperation time! For anyone over the age of 50 it is recommended to donate regularly (as long as you are healthy) just to remind your body how to manufacturer the new blood!
While you are visiting First United feel free to visit our altar for any prayer requests. Someone is listening 24/7! We have had that confirmed by a very reliable source.
We also have prayer request forms located in the pews. Please turn these into the office or if closed slide under the front office door. We have a great prayer team!
We would also like to invite you to any of our services (Sunday 9:00am Contemporary, Sunday School & 11:15 am Traditional) or to any of our functions. We hope you can tell that we are more than a church we are a family in Christ!
Please call Ron Emberg at 770-272-5021 to answer any questions and to set up your appointment or e-mail Ron Emberg.
